Diastasis recti basics
It is a separation of the linea alba — the connective tissue running down the middle of your abdomen. The two halves of your rectus (your 'six pack' muscles) stretch apart, often during pregnancy, weight gain, or chronic intra-abdominal pressure. It is extremely common — research suggests over 60% of postpartum people have some degree of it at six weeks, and a third still have it at one year without intervention.
