I had four months of a flat stomach in my entire adult life. Pre-baby one. After that, no matter how many times I lost weight, my abdomen looked the same — bowed, doming up the middle, soft in a way that wasn't soft. Three doctors told me it was "just postpartum" or "just stubborn belly fat" or "just genetics." One PT handed me a printout of kegels and told me to come back in six weeks.

None of them said the words diastasis recti out loud.

I found the words on a Tuesday at 11 p.m., alone on the bathroom floor, after my third boy had finally gone to sleep. I lay down, I lifted my head, and I put two fingers below my navel. They sank in. All the way. I felt my heart break and ignite at the same time. I had a name. I had a thing.

What I didn't have was a guide. The internet was a mess of contradictions — one camp said kegels, one camp said no kegels, one camp said splint, one camp said never splint, one camp said never train again unless you wanted to ruin yourself further. The actual movement specialists who knew what they were doing were $300 a session and booked out for months.

So I learned it. All of it. I worked with a pelvic-floor PT, an FRC-certified coach, a postpartum specialist. I built my own protocol on my own body, measured my own gap every Sunday for two years, kept a journal, took notes on every flare-up and every win.

And here I am, eight years later, kettlebell in one hand, four children, a closed wall, and the kind of strength I never had before I broke. I built Knit because there are millions of you who deserve to have this without having to be the lonely detective I was.
